A few years ago, seeing dealer gamma at all meant paying. Now there are free visualisers and even free API tiers. If you are learning what a gamma flip is, start free — paying before you understand the concept is the worst order to do this in.
The four things free tiers usually cost you
Refresh rate. Structure moves intraday. A chart that updates slowly is not just less useful, it is actively misleading on a 0DTE tape.
Interpretation. A free chart shows a shape. It does not tell you the regime says fade rather than follow, or which wall is the one that matters this hour.
Reliability. Free tools go down, change without notice, or quietly stop updating. That is a reasonable trade for free, until you have size on.
The handoff. Every free tool is read-only. You still leave to place, size and manage the trade.
Free gets you the picture. What you pay for is the picture staying current, someone having read it, and not having to leave to act on it.
When free is still correct
If you are learning the vocabulary, trading small, or only checking structure once a day, free is the right answer and anyone telling you otherwise is selling something. Read what gamma exposure actually is first.
When it stops being enough
When you are trading the structure intraday with real size, and a stale or unread chart starts costing more per month than a subscription would. A paid dealer map like NoVo’s also bundles the order-flow side in-house — its Analyst dashboard reads the live tape and surfaces sweeps and block prints per ticker — so you are not stacking a separate flow feed on top.
Where NoVo is the wrong answer
NoVo covers 0DTE/1DTE on SPY, QQQ and IWM and nothing else. If you need multi-ticker research, equities screening, futures gamma or macro commentary, a dedicated analytics platform is simply the better purchase. NoVo also never enters a trade on its own — you click every entry. And it does not reduce market risk: options carry substantial risk of loss, which is why paper mode exists.
