0DTE Trading
The Best Time of Day to Trade 0DTE
0DTE isn't one market — it's three, and they trade nothing alike. Knowing which window you're in is half the battle.

An 0DTE trading day breaks into three distinct regimes. The premium behaves differently in each, and trading them all the same way is how accounts bleed out.
The open (9:30–10:30): volatility and opportunity
The first hour is the most volatile and the most tradeable — overnight orders clear, the day's range establishes, and moves have momentum. The opening range sets the day's key levels (the opening range). Theta is least punishing here (most of the day remains), so a directional read has room to work. This is prime 0DTE time.
The lunch lull (11:30–1:30): the account-killer
Midday is where 0DTE quietly destroys traders. Volume dries up, the tape chops, and theta keeps bleeding — so a stalled position loses value even as price goes nowhere. Fading, chasing, and overtrading a dead tape here is the classic 0DTE mistake (common 0DTE mistakes). Often the right trade is no trade.
0DTE doesn't kill you in the fast hours. It kills you at lunch, one theta-bleed chop trade at a time.
Power hour (3:00–4:00): gamma on fire
The final hour brings volume back and gamma peaks — same-day options are hyper-sensitive to price now, and dealer hedging can amplify moves into the close (why gamma matters for 0DTE). Big, fast, and dangerous both ways. NoVo keeps you flat-aware into the close with a live read and a one-click exit — so nothing rides into the bell unless you choose it. See trading power hour.
